Angelica Maestas
Founding Director, Ecosystem Growth
Angelica is a 3x entrepreneur with 15 years experience in health tech business development, operations, analytics, and leadership. She leads strategic partnerships at Builders VC, a $1B venture fund, and is Host of podcast She’s Ambitous AF, empowering professional women everywhere. She is a fierce advocate for Latinos, BIPOC, and women in entrepreneurship and venture.
She works with health organizations, funders, policymakers, and founders to expand our ecosystem, form strategic partnerships, identify pilot opportunities, and the increase financial and support resources available in our region.

Stefany Goradia
Executive Director, Innovation Strategy
Stefany is a health equity advocate and health data SME. She has 15+ years of analytics and leadership experience spanning the entire healthcare ecosystem, from corporate analyst to 2x startup exec and consultant. She is pursuing a PhD in Population Health + Health Equity Sciences, author of healthEQ, doctoral researcher, and consults with organizations on health data analytics strategy, population health, and program design.
She leads our education programs and collaboration initiatives, with a special focus on connecting researchers, institutions, industry, and tech efforts to resources and connections to advance health innovation.

Joseph Sapien
Program Director
Joseph is a nationally recognized ecosystem builder and innovation strategist with a track record of designing and scaling programs that drive economic growth across technology, entrepreneurship, and workforce development. He has led initiatives that connect innovators, venture capital, and institutions to the resources required to move ideas into action.
Joseph leads our ImpACT Health Challenge, supporting emerging technologies that expand access to healthcare and accelerate innovation throughout New Mexico. His work emphasizes collaboration, cross-sector capacity building, community-rooted pathways, and commitment to building ROI across the state.

Ryan Cangiolosi, MBA, MACCT
Ryan Cangiolosi is an economic development and policy leader with 20+ years driving growth at the nexus of health, bioscience, and business. At the University of New Mexico Health Sciences, he directs economic and community development linking research and industry. He is Strategy and Policy Director at the New Mexico Bioscience Authority, and formerly served as Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Susana Martinez. He holds an MBA and a Master of Accounting from UNM, is Treasurer of the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce, and sits on the boards of Electronic Caregiver and CNM Ingenuity. A Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserves, he brings disciplined leadership, business development, cross-sector partnership, and policy expertise to align innovation with economic impact.

Jeff Flores
Jeff Flores is a fifth-generation farmer and rancher whose entrepreneurial journey is grounded in New Mexico resilience, innovation, and a commitment to rural communities. As Founder and CEO of MECA Therapies (est. 2001), Jeff has led the largest pediatric therapy and family services provider in New Mexico, now serving over 2,500 families weekly across 10 counties with a team of 300 professionals. In 2023, he co-founded Frontera Health, advancing technology and AI solutions in autism care and early intervention. His work spans maternal health, home visiting, pediatric clinics, and autism services, with a focus on technology. Jeff brings rural health to the forefront of all of HealthInno’s conversations and initiatives.

Dr. Denise Gonzales, MD
Denise A. Gonzales, MD, is the Medical Director Adult Medical Specialties and Neuroscience at the Presbyterian Medical Group and a practicing pulmonary and critical care physician for Presbyterian Medical Group. Dr. Gonzales joined PHS in 2007. She was the founding medical director of Presbyterian’s first 21st century hospital, Presbyterian Rust Medical Center. In her role as medical director of Adult Medical Specialties and Neuroscience, she leads a group of physicians who deliver highly specialized care to adults. Dr. Gonzales was born and raised along the U.S.-Mexico border in rural southern New Mexico. Her childhood experiences engendered a passion for improving the lives of others, in particular the disadvantaged.

Jim Hickman of Hickman Strategies LLC is a recognized expert in bridging the gap between innovative solutions and large-scale system integration. With 30 years of experience in federal, state, and local government, he drives systemic change within healthcare and his expertise lies in facilitating the adoption and implementation of technology-based innovations across the continuum of care. As the CalAIM SME for the Camden Coalition, he is instrumental in shaping the future of California's healthcare delivery system, and his work with ScaleHealth integrates cutting-edge innovations into established systems. Jim brings national expertise and lessons to learn from the nation’s largest state Medicaid program at Cal-AIM.

Dr. David Hoang, MD, FACS
Dr. David Hoang is a board-certified general and surgical critical care surgeon advancing complex surgical care and robotic surgery in New Mexico. A leader within Lovelace Health System, he has served as Lead Physician for Surgery, Medical Director of Emergency General Surgery, and founder of the Lovelace Medical Center Heartburn Clinic. He is an Assistant Professor at UNM School of Medicine and Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the Greater Albuquerque Medical Association Board of Trustees. Known for surgical excellence, teaching, and community service, Dr. Hoang brings a forward-looking commitment to improving access, outcomes, and high-quality care across New Mexico.

Dr. Amit Mehta, MD, FRCP(c), DABR, DCBNC
Dr. Amit Mehta is a physician, entrepreneur, and investor focused on healthcare innovation. At Builders VC, he supports companies from seed through Series B and has helped lead investments in Carbon Health, Notable Labs, and Fitbiomics. He previously founded Intrinsic Imaging, a healthcare IT and imaging contract research organization acquired by WCG Clinical, and earlier supported health-sector investments at Formation 8. Harvard-trained in minimally invasive image-guided surgery, Dr. Mehta brings clinical, operational, and investment expertise to help healthcare companies validate markets and scale successfully.
